About us

Trained as an economist but passionate about cooking, he exchanged his calculator for knives. His culinary journey started at ESHOB in Barcelona, and his ambition took him to work alongside esteemed chefs such as Fermí Puig, Jean Louis Neichel, Andoni Luis Aduriz, and the Roca brothers. Leading L’Aliança since 2019, Àlex dedicates himself to a modern cuisine that reflects his unique flair, emphasizes local ingredients, and honours the rich Catalan culinary heritage.

Born in England, she spent her childhood in the charming ambiance of her family’s bar during its final years, which became a treasure trove of experiences and memories, instilling in her a passion for hospitality from an early age. After completing her tourism studies at the UdG, she joined the restaurant run by her father and uncle. Her unwavering interest in the industry led her to further her education in protocol and sommelier studies. Leading the establishment since 2014, Cristina has been dedicated to providing a professional yet always friendly, warm, and relaxed service, ensuring that everyone who visits L’Aliança feels at home.

1900

The Alianza Agrícola de Anglès building is constructed, which will serve as the headquarters for the Agricultural Cooperative and a Mutual Credit and Insurance Society.

La família Feliu-Martí entra a regentar el cafè bar del local social que en aquells temps de postguerra portava una època tancat.
1919

The Feliu-Martí family takes over the management of the café bar within the social premises, which had been closed for some time after the war.

1953

A renovation of the café’s main room includes the addition of a loft, aiming to offer a more modern and avant-garde ambiance.

L’Aliança evolves into a popular gathering spot for the local community and its vicinity, famed for its calamari à la Romana, sandwiches, and leisurely afternoons of card games and billiards.

1974

Josep Maria and Lluís, the sons of Lluís and Adela, permanently join the café, introducing gourmet products sourced from Andorra and complementing them with the finest spirits and rock & roll evenings.

1980

The Feliu brothers, entirely self-taught, assume control of the business and expand it by opening a small restaurant with six tables in an adjoining room to the café.

As the new millennium dawns, the cafe-bar ceases operations, and the entire building is transformed into a restaurant.

Amb el nou mil·lenni es tanca l’activitat del cafè-bar i l’edifici es converteix, en la seva totalitat, en un restaurant.
El Ministeri d’Agricultura, Pesca i Alimentació atorga a L’Aliança el premi a Millor Restaurant Rural d’Espanya.
2000

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food honors L’Aliança with the award for Best Rural Restaurant in Spain.

2004

The esteemed Michelin Guide bestows 1 Star upon the restaurant.

2008

Following her completion of the Diploma in Tourism at the University of Girona, Cristina, the eldest daughter of Lluís, becomes part of the family enterprise.

Lluís passes away on Christmas Eve.
With his passing, a star fades and L’Aliança shuts its doors.

2013

Following a period of reflection, Josep Maria and Cristina, along with Marina, Lluís’s youngest daughter, decide to reopen the restaurant, aiming to blend the essence of their grandparents’ café with their father’s culinary legacy.

The Michelin Guide honours the new business proposal with a Bib Gourmand.

Cristina graduates from the sommelier course at L’Escola d’Hostaleria de Girona.

2018

Àlex Carrera, Cristina’s partner, following his training in esteemed establishments like Drolma, Neichel, Mugaritz, and El Celler de Can Roca, takes the helm of the restaurant’s kitchen to craft his own culinary style.

2019

One year after this new gastronomic direction, the Michelin Guide awards Àlex’s cuisine with a Star.

The Michelin Star once again illuminates L’Aliança.

2020

The restaurant receives a Sun award from the Repsol Guide.

2021

The disused loft of the dining room, a remnant from the bar era, is converted into a new cellar, now open for visits and visible from the dining area.

S’aprofita l’antic altell del menjador, en desús des de l’època del bar, per construir-hi la nova bodega.
2023

Apicius, the renowned gastronomic magazine published by Montagud Ediciones, features the restaurant in a detailed article in its 40th issue.

2023

Following many years of utilizing the old bar’s kitchen facilities, L’Aliança shuts down for two months for extensive renovations. The space that once housed the original dining room is cleared out to transform and enlarge the working area.
